Life is adventure, with a purpose!

Eric Douglas earned his open water diver certification in a mountain lake in West Virginia in 1990 just after finishing journalism school. Following a stint as a freelance journalist in the former Soviet Union, he became a divemaster in 1998 and an instructor the following year while working for PADI and Diving Science and Technology (DSAT). About then he developed an interest in diving medicine becoming a Diving Medical Technician (DMT) while volunteering for the Catalina Island Hyperbaric Chamber crew.

Eric’s passion for diving safety took off when he joined DAN in 2000 and is now the director of Training. One of his primary duties is new program development, creating first aid training programs used by divers all over the world. He is also responsible for the creation and development of online educational opportunities and speaks on diving safety topics. He helps coordinate a DMT course offered twice a year at DAN and has helped conduct training for crews in remote locations to operate hyperbaric chambers and care for injured divers.

He has written three dive adventure novels and a series of diving short stories. He co-authored the diving reference text Scuba Diving Safety and is a regular contributor to Alert Diver Magazine.

He is looking for a Literary Agent to represent him on several other writing projects.
