Divers(e)Diving is about exploring an environment that most of the world will never see…unless divers bring back photographs. As a photographer, though, I was never interested in underwater photography unless I had some specific purpose. I had shot underwater when I needed to capture an image, but it wasn’t an all-consuming passion for me, like it is for many avid and professional underwater image makers. I never realized why…until recently. I began this project at the suggestion of a friend to photograph divers themselves, not the environment. My goal with this on-going project is to simply show divers doing what they do; enjoying the ocean, or the lake or the quarry; reveling in being around other divers.
